The block is a laminate with unmatched strength, especially when it comes to impact resistance. Lemer Pax creates glass blocks through optical assembly of lead glass sheets. Thanks to their high ionising ray absorption capacity and high light transmission, Lemer Pax radiation-resistant glass has applications in industry, medicine and research, to make viewing windows – also known as radiation-resistant windows – and screens. Used for its very high chemical resistance, boron glass also has good thermal shock resistance (can withstand temperatures up to 450☌). Normal glass blocks offer high transparency and density providing biological protection equivalent to that of standard concrete. When the accumulated dose is less than 1000 Gy, this cost-effective version presents excellent mechanical and optical qualities for sealing hot cells (Alpha Glass).
